Entry 7: Eaglets Program Day 1| 1/13/18

Today, Team 399 introduces students to the team's 6-Saturday workshop, Eaglets. With a program of sixteen, 6th through 8th graders, these students learn valuable skills, and learn what it takes to be part of the team. The Eaglets begin with a icebreaker of what Team 399 is and a brief history of the team. Then the Eaglets work on an activity which involves naming the future 2018 robot. All the kids have great ideas. They are very creative when choosing the names, and come up with a great variety. Before the team takes the Eaglets downstairs, our Advisor Mr. Frias, gives an important speech about safety and the hazards of the shop. Everyone agrees to be safe, then the team takes the Eaglets down stairs to the shop and introduces them to Programming and Control Systems. The Eaglets watch a demonstration of Team 399's 2017 robot, "Impulse." The kids are astonished. Team 399 lets the Eaglets drive the robot, and they receive hands-on experience of what it takes to be part of the Drive Team. Then Team 399 showcases another robot "Beloved." The Eaglets also have a chance to drive "Beloved." Team 399's first Eaglets starts off as a success. The Eaglets and current Team 399 members all enjoy a fun start to this round of the Eaglets program.
